Topic: A Comprehensive Approach of Periorbital Rejuvenation
Abstract:
The periorbital region of the face is an important area for various rejuvenation procedures because of its
susceptibility to early signs of aging. Eyelid and eyebrow should be considered as an unit together and the
importance of eyebrow should not be underestimated. There are various changes around periorbital area
would happen during aging process.
Skin: Loss of collagen and elastin result in skin laxity , wrinkles, and sagging.
Soft tissue: Fat compartments change in volume and position with aging.
Bone: Orbital remodeling, flattening and obliquity of the orbital floor are noted
during aging.
In order to change the unpleasant aging changes of periorbital region, assessments should be made
thoroughly with careful communication with the patient. Various approaches can be done to resolve the
problems.
Eyelid position and brow position: Involutional blepharoptosis can be corrected by surgical intervention
and brow lift can be performed by endoscopic approach in order to shorten the recovery time.
Volume replacement: Filler injection or autologous fat grafting over proper volume deflated areas can
restore youthful looking.
Skin textures (including wrinkles and fine lines) : Neurotoxins and phototherapy are modalities can
improve aging-related skin changes.
