Topic: Comprehensive Consideration of SMAS and Retaining Ligaments for Facial
Rejuvenation
Abstract:
Thread lifting in the aesthetic field has become more and more popular in recent years. Quill®, V-lock®,
Silhouette instalift®, Stratafix® PDS plus, MINT ® and Miracle® thread are available absorbable suture
products for thread lifting in Taiwan. Suture lifting has not only let physicians to give an immediate,
directional, line contouring effect of the face, but also, the suture can stimulate inflammatory response
that leads to collagen regeneration.
But no matter what brand thread we use, the main area for thread burying is in the subcutaneous,
because it is where the lifting effect will be most visible.
All the threads for lifting have structures that will cling to the tissues, such as cogs or cones; however,
the point is that we must consider the anchoring points to achieve sustainability and stability of the
treatment's effect.
Retention ligament (including zygomatic ligament, platysma auricular ligament, mandibular ligament,
etc.) is from deep to superficial layers of the skin. So we often have to make the thread go through where
the ligaments are on purpose, to provide a stronger anchoring effect. Further, strengthening the
retaining ligament with dermal filler while thread lifting is an effective and sustaining method for facial
rejuvenationrmal filler while thread lifting is an effective and sustaining method for facial rejuvenation.
